Born in Vancouver, raised in Vancouver and Toronto, Jacqueline Bourne is a freethinker and a creative spirit. Jackie uses her strengths in conceptual development and illustration to provide innovative and positive works of art. She has been involved in dance, music and visual arts since childhood. In addition to having taken various drawing and painting classes over the years, she attended the Fine Arts program at Langara College. In 2005, she received a 3-year diploma in Graphic Design and Illustration from Capilano University in North Vancouver, B.C.
She seeks to engage the world through her work on several levels – emotional, intellectual and spiritual – with bold energy, playful color and a sense of mystery and mysticism.
In 2012, Jackie spent some time immersed in the rich culture of the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. This gave her an even deeper appreciation and served as a huge reminder for the need to preserve the beauty of the oceans, animals and the natural world.
While she was there, she also helped organize a weekly art show event (herself included), which brought her into contact with local artists. She was inspired by their ability to work within their environment, while embracing the deep roots of their culture. She was grateful to have observed this expression of such a close relationship between the human spirit and surrounding environment. The experience gave her a renewed, deeper understanding of the artist’s soul, including her own artistic voice and the dire need for conservation and preservation of the natural world, which continues to drive and inspire her work.
Collectors of Jackie’s work can be found in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. In addition to her original paintings, she continues to welcome commissioned custom paintings of a wide variety including portraits of people and pets. She’s also passionate about doTERRA essential oils and since 2017 has incorporated them into her daily life. It’s helped her continue to pursue her art career and has substantially improved her life – emotionally, mentally and physically. She now teaches and empowers others how to lead happier and healthier lives using doTERRA.
